Fitness Trainer Motivates Clients with Weight Loss to Help Raise Money for Animal Shelter

A unique fundraiser for a great cause

BOCA RATON, Fla., Dec. 16, 2009 — Dale Buchanan, owner of Supreme Ultimate Fitness in Boca Raton, FL, has decided to have a weight loss contest for his students in the new year. The difference with this contest is that the students are not competing for their own prize or against each other. They will be losing weight to raise money for the Tri County Humane Society in Boca Raton, FL.

"For every pound each student of mine loses between January 4 and February 28, 2010 I will donate $10 to the Tri County Humane Society," explains Dale. "I recently saw on the news how bad it was at the shelter and they are at full capacity. Last week a Facebook friend announced that she was going to a housewarming party and guests were bringing donations for the animal shelter in Los Angeles. I immediately thought, 'what a great idea.'"

Dale uses unique methods to get his students in top shape with the main focus on Kettlebell Instruction and Training. Kettlebells have been around for centuries in Russia and just recently have been getting some attention in America. Students only need to come to class 3 times a week for 45 minutes and the workouts are very intense after they learn the basic exercises such as the swing, squat, clean and press, Turkish Get Up, and snatch.

Dale, who is a certified Kettlebell trainer from 3 different international organizations and uses them for his personal fitness routine, says, "Kettlebell training can produce fast results. It's extremely important that people only learn from a certified instructor who practices Kettlebell technique daily and with teaching experience or it's likely that people could get no results and worse, they could get injured." Some students could easily lose 10-20 lbs in the 8-week period, which means that the animal shelter could get a pretty nice donation come March.

Many of the students of Supreme Ultimate Fitness are dog lovers and know Dale's dog Spaulding, a Lab Greyhound mix who was rescued from a shelter in Muscle Shoals, AL in May 2008. "Spaulding is somewhat of the mascot for the gym as he's usually there greeting students when they arrive and watching as the classes or sessions are in progress. He was left at the shelter because the owners could not house-train him. I did it in 3 days and he's by far been the best thing that ever came into my life. He's my best buddy and I am so blessed to have him. I hope that my efforts will encourage more people to donate to the shelter or better yet, adopt a cat or dog."
