[ yellow tail ] Moscato Unveils First-Ever FIZZ FACTOR

Groundbreaking metric shown to predict potential for Weather-Induced Grouchiness

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., June 21, 2011 — The first day of summer has dawned, and judging by the heat waves which engulfed most parts of the U.S. only weeks ago, the dog days of summer aren't far behind.  While traditionally a time of vacations, cookouts and general relaxation, as the mercury rises, so do reported outbreaks of one of the most serious threats to summertime enjoyment: Weather-Induced Grouchiness (WIG). In response, the makers of [ yellow tail ] Moscato have created the first-ever FIZZ FACTOR to help safeguard adults against this blight.

The correlation between weather and moods has long been the subject of clinical research. A study by Sanders and Brizzolara (1982) reported in the Journal of General Psychology found that high humidity was a predictor for lack of vigor, elation and affection. Moreover, significant research (Rotton & Cohn, 2004; Cohn & Rotton, 2005; Anderson, 1987) has investigated the link between heat and unpleasant behavior.

The product of hours of study and careful contemplation, the [ yellow tail ] FIZZ FACTOR is determined by dividing the humidity level by a factor of 10. For example, on a day when the humidity is 90 percent, the FIZZ FACTOR would be a 9. That number is a measure of the degree to which light-hearted refreshment might protect your mood against WIG.

"The effects of weather-induced grouchiness, more commonly known as WIG-ging Out, are among the most serious issues facing adult Americans each summer," said Francois Magnant, [ yellow tail ] Associate Brand Director, with tongue firmly planted in cheek. "If you consider, as research has shown, the additional implications of reduced vigor and affection, the relevance of the [ yellow tail ] FIZZ FACTOR becomes clear."

On high FIZZ days, generally found to be above a 6, increased fun refreshment can be effective in avoiding WIG. Even on days when the FIZZ Factor is lower, adults would be advised to ensure their FIZZ reserves are adequate to protect against sudden spikes in the temperature, which can bring on sudden-onset WIG.

While cold showers or romps in fountains have been shown to provide temporary relief from WIG, said solutions are hardly practical and certainly not portable. Rather, adults should consider alternatives that are a little bit sweet or a little bit fizzy, advised Magnant.
