World's Most Expensive Burger Goes Under the Hammer for Charity

uSocial.net celebrates four years serving the social media marketplace with first-of-its-kind auction; proceeds earmarked for Steve Irwin’s Wildlife Warriors, the National Breast Cancer Foundation and other charities

BRISBANE, Australia, May 30, 2012 — Four years ago, uSocial.net became the first company in the world to sell Facebook fans and Twitter followers to companies, celebrities and even governments. Now, to celebrate its anniversary, uSocial.net is set to auction off a history-making burger.

That’s right, the auction item is a burger — although the “burger” moniker hardly seems grand enough for this luxury creation. With a list of ingredients that includes 24-karat gold leaf, it will be the most expensive burger ever made — and the starting bid is a whopping $10,000. All proceeds will go to charitable causes, including Wildlife Warriors, the charity founded by the late Steve Irwin and his wife, Terri, to help protect injured, threatened or endangered wildlife, and the National Breast Cancer Foundation, dedicated to funding breast cancer research for prevention and cure, among others.

Private bidding begins today. Burger-lovers can submit their bids at uSocial.net through June 13, 2012.

Just what makes a burger worth $10,000? The value is in the ingredients. Holiday backyard barbecues have nothing on this bad boy. The uSocial.net anniversary burger will be handcrafted using some of the world’s rarest and most expensive ingredients.

A Wagyu beef and white truffle burger will rest on a handmade brioche roll infused with saffron, black truffle and 24-karat gold. Spanish jamon iberico (a prized ham), fresh white truffle and 24-karat gold leaf will grace the top of the burger, and the creation will be accented with Australian pink Murray River salt and a balsamic sauce reduced from Aceto Balsamico that has been aged for eight years.

“We have broken a world record by creating the most expensive burger, which will be auctioned off for charity and personally made locally, anywhere in the world, for the person who becomes the winning bidder of this one-of-a-kind edible luxury treat,” stated uSocial.net CEO Leon Hill. “This recipe will only be made once, and the winning bidder will be the only person ever to enjoy this creation. This historic burger follows the uSocial.net tradition of breaking the mold.”
