A Window Into the Mind: Stella Butler Uses Poetry to Describe the People in Her Life That Hurt Her, Loved Her and Drove Her Wild With Passion and Desire

EDEN, N.C., Aug. 6, 2009 — Stella Butler's first book of poetry, titled "A Single Moment in Time," addresses the often sensitive issues of love, betrayal, desire and sexual fantasy.

During her struggle with several long illnesses and with her first marriage, Butler believes that she experienced a deep inner awakening. This allowed her to write such inspired verses as those found in "Man of My Dreams":

He'll be quiet like a soft heart beat
Not the type who demands
But the kind who understands my needs
He'll love me for who I am
And when his soft lips touch mine
And our hands meet
It will spark a blaze of fire

(Verse 8-14, page 2)

Butler wants her readers to become comfortable expressing their own desires and fantasies after reading her book. She hopes that, as she once did, they will be able to experience the opening of a window in the mind. This idea is illustrated on the cover of her book.

Butler uses a unique style of writing, which she calls "a new wave in poetry," to tell a complete story with her verses — a story that is based on the ideas of betrayal, pain, renewal, love, hope and desire.
