FITZGERALD, Ga., Aug. 3, 2009 — Gay men are being killed in South Florida and a city is about to explode. Alex J. McDonald retired from the Broward County Sheriff's Department in Florida after field training officers for 28 of the 37 years he was a deputy. He has a black belt in karate and is a former competitor in pistol and rifle shooting.
Alex is now living in his ancestral town, where his family has produced a superior court judge and a state representative. He has been happily married for 30 years. "Vesuvius" is his second novel.
