Technology measuring jump height and count used in NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball 2015 Championship Series
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Dec. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — VERTcast, a sports telemetry system used with VERT, a wearable jump monitoring device, is making history as the first wearable tech used in the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship games this weekend. VERTcast will showcase jump height data in real-time on ESPN2, providing an enhancement to match entertainment for thousands of volleyball fans.

VERT is a non-invasive and discrete inertial measurement unit (IMU) worn in the waist of an individual to report numerous athletic measurements, including jump count and height. These measurements are sent directly to the VERT software architecture, which is monitored by coaches and student athletes during use. Now, using VERTcast, these measurements will also appear on a live screen during the semi-final and championship games as well as on the television newscast, giving viewers the opportunity to experience student athlete athleticism in real-time.

The semi-finals begin Dec. 17, 2015 at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb. with The University of Kansas (30-2) scheduled to go head-to-head against the University of Nebraska (30-4) at 9:30amEST, while the University of Minnesota (30-4) is set to play the University of Texas (29-2) in a close matchup at 7:00pmEST. The championship game will be played Dec. 19, 2015. "The University of Minnesota already uses VERT technology, and it's an integral part of our program.
