UNICO National Makes $10,000 Contribution to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark for Earthquake Relief in L'Aquila Region of Italy

FAIRFIELD, N.J., May 4, 2009 — UNICO National, the nation's largest Italian-American service non-profit organization, completed the first phase of its immediate fundraising for earthquake victims in the L'Aquila region of Italy with a $10,000 check presentation to Archbishop John J. Myers, the leader of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark.

UNICO is now in the second phase of earthquake relief to residents of the province of L'Aquila in the Abruzzo Region. This phase of relief will help rebuild facilities and homes destroyed by the earthquake. It is estimated there are more than 46,000 left homeless by the earthquake, which killed nearly 300, and injured more than 1,500.
