CBS Outdoor partners with UNICO in presenting dozens of billboards in statewide marketing campaign
FAIRFIELD, N.J., Nov. 25, 2009 — Thanks to a milestone partnership with CBS Outdoor, billboards inviting New Jersey residents to "rediscover their Italian heritage" and join UNICO – the nation's largest Italian-American service organization – will be placed throughout the state. The signs are going up within the next few days.
The milestone agreement occurred in October 2009 for UNICO National, UNICO Foundation, and the organization's Development Program. The non-profit Italian-American organization formalized an advertising partnership with CBS Outdoor of New Jersey.
New Jersey's CBS Outdoor General Manager Gerry Allen approved placement of billboards throughout the state of New Jersey including not only the rental fees but also the installation charges at no cost to UNICO. Mr. Allen told UNICO's Development Executive Barbara Peirano that CBS Outdoor in New Jersey is "proud to give back to the community and believes in supporting organizations, like UNICO, that do the same."
UNICO's National President Andre DiMino stated, "On behalf of our National members, I would like to thank CBS Outdoor for their tremendous generosity in assisting UNICO with its mission in promoting and preserving Italian heritage, and providing community support. We are proud to have a private sector partner such as CBS Outdoor."
UNICO, which has more than 130 chapters throughout the United States, means unique or one of a kind in Italian and was founded in Waterbury, CT by Dr. Anthony P. Vastola in 1922. Members, while promoting Italian heritage and combating negative stereotyping, work to support charitable, educational, scientific and literary projects.
