True-to-Life Book Captures the Simple Pleasures of Life

Follow the Adventures of Mississippi Family in New Young Adult Fiction

JACKSON, Miss., Aug. 28, 2009 — Family defines us, and growing up with several siblings means excitement and mischief. In her new book based on the adventures of her four children, "The Best Clubhouse Ever" (published by AuthorHouse), posthumous author Sharon Bomgaars presents a story that resonates with readers because of its entertaining tales, relatable characters and universal themes.

"The Best Clubhouse Ever" centers around the Bomgaars family: parents Dennis and Sharon, and children Micah, Joel, Daniel and Christina. The family lives in a small house on a dead-end street in Mississippi, where Mrs. Bomgaars home-schooled all four children. Told from Micah's point of view, the story revolves around the creation of a new clubhouse: "The Best Clubhouse Ever."

Desperate for a "real" clubhouse, the children face their fears and explore an abandoned barn they receive permission to use. The spooky, scary building turns into much more than they ever hoped for.

Follow this group of spirited children as they work to turn the crumbling barn into a first-class clubhouse. Of course there is much excitement and mischief along the way as the (younger) "Little Kids" scheme against the (older) "Big Kids," teasing and squabbling in the way siblings are prone to do. Their adventures are brought to life with colorful descriptions of true-to-life settings and dialogue. Ideal for readers aged 9-13, "The Best Clubhouse Ever" will have special appeal to children of large families and home-schooled students.

Sharon (Wagenaar) Bomgaars was an imaginative woman. She home-schooled her four children through the 12th grade. Her great love for books inspired her to read to her children constantly, and one of her life goals was to capture the childhood stories of her children into a unique book of her own. "The Best Clubhouse Ever," which is based on true events, is the realization of that dream. Sharon completed this book shortly before passing away in 2002. Her struggle with cancer was chronicled in her journals, later published as "In His Feathers: The Letters and Journals of Sharon Bomgaars."

Publication of "The Best Clubhouse Ever" was made possible by Sharon's devoted husband, Dennis Bomgaars (1956-2006).
