Tall Ships Arrive in Morro Bay Harbor

From December 2-8, the tall ship Lady Washington will make her annual visit to Morro Bay, offering K-12 educational programs, walk-on tours, and ticketed excursions. This traditional built replica has a crew dressed in period costume and embodies American maritime history of the late 1700s and early 1800s. In 1788 the original ship became the first American vessel to make landfall on the west coast of North America and opened the black pearl and sandalwood trade between Hawaii and Asia when King Kamehameha became a partner in the ship.

Lighted Boat Parade and Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony
Saturday, December 6 at 6:00pm, locals and visitors will gather along the waterfront in Morro Bay to watch a spectacular procession of beautifully-decorated Christmas skiffs, yachts, fishing boats, cutters, sailboats, kayaks and more. In fact, local boats of all shapes and sizes, decorated with lights for the holiday season, will cruise the harbor. Meantime, the Morro Bay White Caps and the San Luis Obispo City Band will be playing Christmas music at the South T-pier at 6:00 pm. Following the annual Lighted Boat Parade, the public is invited to attend the Morro Bay Tree Lighting Ceremony. For more information, contact the Morro Bay Rotary Club (805) 801-5911.
