TiaLinx, Inc. Announces SBIR Phase I Award from U.S. Army; Project to Develop a Wall Interrogator for Advanced High-Resolution Mapping of Material Topography

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Jan. 5, 2007 — TiaLinx, Inc., a developer of Wafer Scale Antenna Module, today announced that it has been awarded a Phase I from the Army. The objective of this program with the Army is to address implementation of TiaLinx's propriety integrated Wafer Scale Antenna Module (WSAM(TM)) technology, focusing on real-time topography imaging of an object, high-resolution texture information and synthetic aperture radar imaging. WSAM modules offer low power, substantially reduced mass and volume. Compared to conventional phased array technology, the WSAM offers orders of magnitude enhancement in cost, weight, volume and manufacturing precision.

"The Army's award was based on a thorough evaluation of the feasibility study proposed for Phase I, indicating TiaLinx's massively patented technological breakthrough," commented Dr. Fred Mohamadi, Founder and CEO of TiaLinx. "TiaLinx's highly integrated distributed mm-wave RF sensor technology is revolutionizing multi-discipline DoD projects and positioning TiaLinx to be a leader in addressing applications related to imaging of topography and depth analysis of objects."

The Wall Interrogator device can benefit police, first responders, fire and rescue missions. The second generation of the devices will provide detection of buried bodies under earthquake debris, buried mines and IEDs. High-resolution RF beamforming technology of TiaLinx also addresses applications such as early warning radar, see-through wall, point-to-point and point-to-multipoint wireless connectivity, radiometry and passive-medical imaging, mobility aids for the visually impaired, homeland security and surveillance, and collision avoidance systems.
