New Tagoras Event Focuses on Role of Technology and Design in Market for Adult Lifelong Learning

CARRBORO, N.C., Jan. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Tagoras (http://www.tagoras.com) today announced a new event as part of its ongoing effort to serve the rapidly growing business of adult lifelong learning and professional development. Learning Ÿ Technology Ÿ Design (LTD), which will take place May 18-19, 2016, at the NRECA Conference Center in Arlington, VA, will focus on how trade and professional associations can more effectively leverage new technologies and approaches to learning to engage learners and create lasting impact.

According to Tagoras co-founder Jeff Cobb, LTD was created out of the recognition that organizations in the business of lifelong learning have different needs than their corporate and academic counterparts. "These organizations don't offer degrees, and they aren't in a position to mandate training and education," says Cobb. "Technology and design are integral not just to creating great learning experiences but also to marketing and selling those learning experiences and staying connected to learners across their careers."

Tagoras co-founder Celisa Steele understands first-hand the importance of mastering technology and design in the market for lifelong learning. "We're in the learning business ourselves so we're fully aware of the challenges and opportunities our prospective attendees face," says Steele. "We deliver sponsored Webinars, sell online courses, manage an online community, and host a variety of face-to-face events. The expectations of adult learners have shifted—while competition for their attention has grown—and it's past time for a technology-focused event specifically for organizations in the lifelong learning business. LTD is that event."

Reva Brennan, Chief Operating Officer of the South Carolina Association of CPAs, is representative of the type of professional for which LTD is designed. "Remaining relevant in the professional education environment is a challenge for any organization," says Brennan, "but when you add the constant change in technology it is a mystery that requires learning and sharing with like professionals. Tagoras is a great resource in guiding and leading organizations in this arena, and I am excited to learn more at LTD. It will provide the opportunity to address two major topics that are greatly impacting our organizations and members—learning and technology."

The LTD program will offer a blend of short, focused content presentations, (referred to by Tagoras as Content Pods™), active learning opportunities, high-value peer networking, and access to a range of technology providers that serve the market for lifelong learning. Attendees will also engage in case studies and explore actionable approaches to technology-enabled and technology-enhanced learning.

To help shape the experience, Tagoras has assembled an advisory board of experienced association, learning, and technology professionals. Advisors include Tadu Yimam, Director of Online Learning, National Association of College and University Business Officers; Stephanie Owen, Education Manager, National Wood Flooring Association; Raffaele Vitelli, Director of Professional and Workforce Development, National Association of Social Workers; Diane Rhodes-Michaely, Senior Representative, Education Programs & Strategies, National Rural Electric Cooperative Association; Wes Trochlil, President, Effective Database Management, LLC; and Maggie McGary, Communications & PR Manager, Society of Fire Protection Engineers.
