Syska Hennessy Group AIG Project Receives Uptime Institute Brill Award in Operational Data Center Upgrade Category

Project Recognized For Innovative Design Updating Legacy Data Center in Live Environment; Syska to Host Session at 2015 Uptime Institute Conference Regarding Project Work

NEW YORK, May 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Syska Hennessy Group, Inc., a global consulting, engineering and commissioning firm, has announced that its recent data center work for American International Group, Inc. (AIG) was the recipient of a prestigious Uptime Institute Brill Award in the Data Center Upgrade Category. Syska led the charge on this innovative project, which involved updating a legacy data center system in a live environment.

The Uptime Institute's second annual Brill Awards seeks to showcase end users, service providers, and technologies that improve the industry's ability to sustainably deliver IT services to end users while minimizing cost and other resources. The awards are judged by a panel of more than 90 distinguished industry professionals who evaluated submissions from leading enterprises around the world.

AIG needed to update a legacy data center environment to a next generation data center capable of housing the latest technologies to meet ever expanding IT demands. Syska played an integral role in this transformation, which was accomplished while keeping the entire site operational, phasing in the next generation equipment alongside the legacy equipment. Upgrades included a new UPS system, new cooling enhancements including VFDs, and raised air set-point temperatures. AIG has also implemented detailed monitoring systems to further track savings and utilization trending over time.

Robert Ioanna, Vice President at Syska Hennessy Group and a Managing Principal for the firm's New York Office, hosted a session to discuss this award-winning project for AIG at this year's annual Uptime Institute Conference in Santa Clara, CA, held May 21st.

"As one of the industry's recognized leaders in innovative data center design, we strive to raise the bar on every project we tackle. Our work on the AIG project is among the most innovative that we have ever completed and it's gratifying to be recognized by the Brill Awards for our efforts," said James Coe, senior vice president, director of critical facilities, Syska Hennessy Group.
