Early-bird registration for solar energy design and installation certification training kicks off now, along with discounted prices for online courses
COTATI, Calif., June 2, 2010 — With momentum building for energy-efficient products and services and an entire industry of green-minded professionals who are committed to this earth-friendly field rapidly growing, Sun Pirate, a California-based solar contractor, is hosting a three-day workshop for entry-level certification with the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP). On July 15-17, 2010 at Sonoma Mountain Village, Rohnert Park, Calif., the NABCEP Entry Level Workshop will provide full instruction along with hands-on training to prepare professionals for the NABCEP Entry Level Certificate of Knowledge Exam.
"We're excited to offer this hands-on workshop, which will cover everything from basic electrical instruction to safety, site analysis and system installation tasks," says Roger Coghlan, president of Sun Pirate and the developer and instructor for the July event. "Anyone who is working in this market or looking to get a foot in the door should definitely attend."
While the first two "lab" days of the workshop are open to anyone, attendees must have completed and passed Sun Pirate's online Photovoltaic System Design & Installation course to take the NABCEP exam on day three. However, attendees can participate in the first two days of the workshop, then complete the Photovoltaic System Design & Installation course online and take the NABCEP exam at another Sun Pirate workshop in the future (date to be announced).
"We highly encourage candidates to complete and pass the required online course before coming to this workshop. That way, they can train for two days then sit for the exam and obtain their certification in one fell swoop," Coghlan adds.
An early-bird registration rate of $600 runs until July 1 – saving students $150 – before the workshop costs rise to $650 until July 8 and $750 the week of the event. The fee includes the three-day workshop attendance, exam and administration costs, plus lunch and a continental breakfast.
Of note, Sun Pirate is also offering $95 off online courses purchased before June 30. Developed and taught by Coghlan, the courses focus on installing code-compliant solar energy systems and include Photovoltaic System Design & Installation and Fundamentals of Solar Hot Water Heating.
