Stockton Students Learn Study Skills and Build Confidence with Club Z!

New Club Z! branch offers tutoring services to students of all ages and abilities in Stockton, CA

STOCKTON, Calif., April 1, 2011 — With winter break a thing of the distant past, the school year is now past its midpoint – a time when low grades or poor concentration can no longer be blamed on post-summertime slumps, the fall semester's new grade level of academic material, or the pre- or post-holiday distractions of early winter. For many students and parents, starting the new year off on the right foot involves finding the help a child needs in order to succeed and thrive in school.

Some students simply need a bit more individual assistance in order to do well, whether to catch up in a particular subject, to become better test-takers, or simply to improve their study skills and academic confidence. In fact, educational research shows that most students benefit from the type of individual attention that is all but impossible in classroom settings. Sally Van Bebber-Salter, a seasoned veteran of the education industry and long-term Stockton area resident, saw a way to help both students and parents by opening a new Club Z! In-Home Tutoring Services franchise.

Although there are a bewildering variety of tutoring companies operating in today's market, Club Z!'s approach is uniquely supportive. It focuses on one-on-one tutoring in the student's own home – an environment in which the child already feels comfortable and secure – and offers scheduling that is flexible and parent-friendly. Meeting at the child's home not only saves parents the time and hassle of transport but allows them to receive immediate and regular reports on their child's progress. Distractions can be minimized in the home environment as well, allowing the child to build focus and establish regular study routines. Club Z! uses the student's own curriculum unless supplemental material is needed, so that students who are already struggling are not overburdened with new material.

Sally Van Bebber-Salter is excited about her new career choice. With a lifetime of experience teaching children and students at every level, from preschool to college graduate course work, she realized after retiring that she was not ready to leave the education profession behind her. "I love working with people," says Ms. Van Bebber-Salter, "and I need meaningful activity." Her decision to open a Club Z! franchise will allow her to continue serving area parents and students.

Club Z! is North America's largest one-on-one in-home tutoring program, with an excellent 15-year reputation and hundreds of thousands of happy clients. The franchise's one-on-one method is a key factor in its high success rate. Club Z! tutors are highly trained and pre-screened experts in their fields, and tutoring is available in any subject needed, from basic math and reading, to core academic subjects, to preparation for standardized tests such as the SAT and ACT college entrance exams.

Ms. Van Bebber-Salter sees a few unique areas of specialty for her new branch, as well. "I would like to highlight my experience in Speech Therapy, Study Skills, and Executive Skills, as well as mainstream tutoring," she says. Whatever topic is needed, Club Z! can provide support and help students of all ages reach toward their academic potential.
