SAN FRANCISCO, July 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — PositiveSingles is bringing hope to those living with sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) through an app that brings singles together, with the ease of Tinder-style use. With the new Tinder-style feature "Let's Meet," PositiveSingles makes dating much easier for people with STDs such as Herpes (HSV-1 & HSV-2), HPV and HIV. The app shares many of the same features as Tinder along with some unique upgrades. On Tinder, users are given one profile at a time. PositiveSingles has innovated to allow users to view two profiles at the same time. Users have a choice after they make a comparison: like one of the profiles or like neither of them. If they like one person more than the other, they can tap on her or him to like, and if they like neither of the two people, they can "swipe right" or "swipe left" to pass.

"There's a terrible tendency to write off people with STDs in the dating world," said Richard Cordova, spokesperson for PositiveSingles. "On the general dating sites or apps, many singles with STDs are often rejected by others immediately after they disclose their condition. It's really not fair. Should they be denied an opportunity for love simply because they struggle with a disease? This was how the PositiveSingles app came into being."

The app also boasts user-created blogs and a chat room. The blogs enable users to share their thoughts on any topic they like: life stories of living with an STD, experiences of dating with STDs and more. In the chat room, users can get instant help and advice from the community. It's a great place for anyone who is newly diagnosed to ask for help and information, and to talk to others who understand what they are going through.

A few statistics on STDs:

– It is estimated that there are 20 million new infections each year.
– The CDC estimates that there are approximately 110 million STD-infected individuals in the US.
– More than half of all people will become infected with a STD at some point in their lives.
