Kodi Entertainment Center (formerly XBMC) is a free and open-source media center software developed by the XBMC Foundation, a nonprofit technology consortium. The software is a popular multi-platform alternative to restricted and closed source products such as Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV. "Following the September announcement of Kodi/XBMC v14 support for the Freescale i.MX6 devices, we partnered with OpenELEC and Yatse to bring a comprehensive entertainment solution to both sophisticated and less technical users alike," explained Rabeeh Khoury, CTO of SolidRun. OpenELEC is a Linux distribution designed for use with Kodi/XBMC to easily turn computers into media centers. Yatse is a popular Kodi/XMBC remote for Android devices.

"The CuBoxTV addresses the demand for high performance, quad core Kodi/XBMC dedicated solutions," stated Dr. Atai Ziv, CEO of SolidRun. "The product will be offered at leading online shops for $99.99."

The CuBoxTV's 2"x2"x2" box has a small footprint but packs a powerful punch.  Supporting full HD multi format video decoding and encoding, it has been tested to decode video streams at over 100 Mbps bit rate, almost twice the highest transfer bit rate of Blu-ray.  CuBoxTV's high performance is achieved with very low power allowing for passive cooling and increased reliability.  Having no moving parts serves to eliminate background noise providing an exceptional listening experience.
