SingleHop, Inc. Joins United Nations Global Compact

CHICAGO, Jan. 12, 2010 — Chicago-based SingleHop, Inc., a provider of dedicated and complex hosting solutions, today announced that they are officially signatories to the United Nations Global Compact. Founded by the UN in 2000, the Global Compact is a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption.

SingleHop has a strong history of support in all four of the Global Compact's focus areas. In terms of environmental conservation, SingleHop has led the worldwide hosting industry by introducing and popularizing the use of energy-efficient processors which provide 70% greater energy conservation over similar though lower-priced machines. For human rights protection, SingleHop holds the unique capability, as a web host, to actively monitor and eliminate websites that promote and exploit individuals. Towards the abolition of child labor, SingleHop offers pro-bono hosting and website consulting to the Notforsale campaign, a worldwide organization focused on eliminating slavery and child labor. And finally, being committed to working against corruption, SingleHop actively reports and blacklists individuals involved in financial fraud, as well as closely partners with law enforcement and legal entities to eliminate online sale of unlicensed and un-allowed material.

"Since its founding, SingleHop, Inc. has been centered around the same values and principles that the UN's Global Compact is seeking to promote in industries and economies worldwide," says SingleHop founder and CEO Zak Boca. "We have a strong track record of pioneering investment and involvement in these measures, including leading the use of energy-efficient processors, and our support of the Notforsale campaign to eliminate child labor and slavery. The ten principles of the Global Compact are an active guideline in how our firm is run.

"We're honored to sign on to these ten principles and pledge our support to continue forwarding the Global Compact and to engage in collaborative projects which advance the broader development goals of the United Nations, particularly the Millennium Development Goals."

As a key requirement of the Global Compact is public accountability and transparency, SingleHop also pledges to submit annually a Communication on Progress (COP) describing their further efforts to implement the ten principles.

About the UN Global Compact

The United Nations Global Compact was proposed and implemented by former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan in July 2000 and by December 2009, more than 7,000 businesses from 134 countries were participating in the compact. The UN actively partners and monitors the participants and reserves the right to ban participants who are in breach of the compact.

Participating companies voluntarily uphold ten principles in the four areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption. While seeking to promote the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities of companies as part of their responsibility as corporate citizens, the compact endeavors through these activities to foster a sustainable and inclusive global economy, starting with the achievement of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.
