Senior HHS Official Confirmed to Speak at CBI's 13th Annual Patient Assistance and Access Programs Event – March 6-7, 2012 in Baltimore, Maryland

BOSTON, Sept. 20, 2011 — Jay Angoff, Senior Advisor to the Secretary, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, has just confirmed that he will present the keynote address at CBI's 13th Annual Patient Assistance and Access Programs on March 6-7, 2012, in Baltimore, MD. CBI's annual conference has become the gold standard and largest gathering of the nation's leading PAP experts.

As millions of uninsured Americans gain some form of insurance coverage, manufacturer-sponsored PAPs face unprecedented growth and challenges as programs evolve to address the changing needs in the market. CBI's robust and renowned forum on this critical issue convenes hundreds of executives from the pharmaceutical industry and from patient foundations and clinics.

The Affordable Care Act's Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan is a new coverage option for the uninsured and will be discussed at the conference. The impact of this new plan on patient assistance and access programs will be featured in addition to details on how the plan can immediately assist some of the most vulnerable patients served by PAPs, particularly those turned down for insurance coverage because of a pre-existing condition.

In addition to Mr. Angoff as the keynote speaker, the conference features in-depth workshops and over 50 speakers. Conference attendees will have access to the Patient Access Networking Pavilion and benefit from exclusive coverage on the latest issues, including: reform and insurance exchanges; income eligibility criteria for patient cost sharing and specialty programs; new web portals for enrollment; and, innovation in institutional programs, pharmacy cards and bulk replenishment.
