Scarinci Hollenbeck Associate CJ Griffin Receives New Leaders of the Bar Award

Griffin's Sharp Legal Skills and Dedication to Diversity Issues Have Earned Her One of New Jersey's Top Honors

LYNDHURST, N.J., Aug. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Candida "CJ" Griffin, a Scarinci Hollenbeck Associate, has been named one of New Jersey Law Journal's "New Leaders of the Bar" (formerly called the "40 Under 40" list). This is a distinguished award given to young New Jersey attorneys who stand out among their peers.

"I am honored to be included in this dignified list of attorneys and pleased that my contributions have had a positive impact on the clients we serve," Griffin said. "I'm eager to continue taking on new challenges and leadership initiatives that will help expand the valuable work Scarinci Hollenbeck does as a firm."

Historically, the top leaders list has profiled forty attorneys under 40 years of age, and this year that number was increased to fifty to accommodate New Jersey's expanding talent pool. Griffin is one of the State's top 50 attorneys profiled, each with their own unique characteristics and career achievements.  They stand out and stand up for a diverse range of issues and excel in several legal categories. Qualifying criteria includes an attorney's ability to develop niche practice areas, engage in extensive pro bono or volunteer work, publish unique legal insights, and demonstrate a sound knowledge and practice of legal experience.

CJ Griffin has excelled in all of these areas, as evidenced by her dedication to diversity issues and various leadership roles. Earlier this year, Griffin was elected to Secretary of the New Jersey State Bar Association's GLBT Rights Section. Further, the County Executive for Essex County recently appointed Griffin to the county's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning Advisory Board with advice and consent by the County Freeholders. She also currently serves as the Chair of the Scarinci Hollenbeck Diversity Committee and channels her pro bono efforts for the New Jersey State Bar Association defending New Jersey's Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act.

Griffin is also recognized for her role in publishing on important legal matters, and has co-authored a chapter that will appear in the BNA-Bloomberg book, Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation in the Workplace: A Practical Guide. The book will be published in 2013.

CJ Griffin graduated from Rutgers School of Law in 2009, where she was an editor for the Rutgers Law Review. She is admitted to the New Jersey Bar and the U.S. District Court, District of New Jersey.
