A Revealing Read on Human Pleasure

Brilliant man of science shares the physiology, psychology and philosophy of pleasure in The Fifth influence or, The Dialects of Pleasure

QUEBEC CITY, Jan. 11, 2012 — Author Michel Cabanac, the scientist who discovered the phenomena of Alliesthesia, Ponderostat, and Anapyrexia and coined these names for these phenomena, presents his 50-year intensive work on the critical themes of physiology, psychology, and philosophy of pleasure, in his intriguing book The Fifth influence or, The Dialectics of Pleasure. A brilliant theoretician and experimenter, Cabanac skillfully merges his original ideas with cutting-edge scientific information that he presents in the context of a broad historic perspective, which allows this book to be used effectively as a college textbook, also.

The Fifth influence or, The Dialectics of Pleasure describes how human behavior is determined. It is based on experiments not only in humans, but also with animals, starting with physiological responses, followed by behavioral then purely psychological. Several chapters are then devoted to the inevitable applications to philosophy and even theology of these results obtained experimentally.

This profound scientific work, written with such clarity, can be easily appreciated by the interested lay person as well as the specialist. And what human being is not interested in the subject of pleasure? It is about a fellow Homo hedonicus, who indefatigably labors in the pursuit of happiness, so closely connected to pleasure.

"Since we are also Homo sapiens, we hedonicus sometimes strive to understand how the relentless springs of action push us around. Almost everything one wants to know about pleasure can be found in this book," says the author.
