Retailers Welcome Price Protectr Business Solutions Launch

NEW YORK, Sept. 17, 2009 — The National Retail Federation welcomed a new member to its ranks last week. Price Protectr joined the NRF in conjunction with their launch of Price Protectr Business Solutions and the annual NRF Digital Division Shop.org Summit, which welcomes the nation's top retailers and e-commerce solution providers.

For almost three years, Price Protectr has provided alerts to consumers, tracking prices before and after the purchase, sending the user an e-mail when prices change. Online shoppers and multi-billion-dollar partners have entrusted over $40 million in volume to Price Protectr's alerts.

"Because of the depth of Price Protectr's experience with price alerts and with collective intelligence, Price Protectr Business Solutions leads the category even at launch," said James Wallace, Price Protectr CEO. "We have the simplest integration, the best analytics, and the highest ROI – doesn't really get any better than that."

"Price Protectr Business Solutions will partner with retailers, membership organizations, and other e-commerce solution providers to offer price alert remarketing and collective intelligence systems and services, like our Priceless Alert Service," said Tim Tonella, Price Protectr's president.

"In the current economic environment, retailers need better ways of bringing customers back to the website and getting them to buy with them rather than a competitor," said Tonella. "We can give retailers those remarketing solutions."

"The Priceless Alert Service will give our retail partners the tools to decrease abandoned shopping carts, and bring the customer back to buy – and that's critical with consumers buying less often, shopping for more value, and shopping around more," said Wallace.

Because prices are always changing, savvy consumers are looking for more than just a snapshot of prices at any given moment, as delivered by shopping portals and comparison-shopping engines. Leading e-commerce retailers like Amazon and Newegg already provide price alerts for their customers, but aren't likely to share the functionality and intelligence anytime soon.

"With our Business Solutions, top-tier and middle-tier retailers will be able to notify customers of price changes and special offers without spamming them. This kind of personalized service is great for both retailers and shoppers," said Dave Cohen, co-founder and CTO of Price Protectr.

Price Protectr's consumer site will not be affected, and will continue to provide price alerts to Internet users on items they want to buy, helping the shopper make the best decision on when to buy (i.e. when the price drops).

"In fact, Price Protectr partners and users should both benefit from the launch of Price Protectr Business Solutions," said Wallace. "This will potentially give users access to personalized, special deals, and give partners insight into anonymous consumer behavior data across retailers. It's a win-win."

Wallace invited retailers and strategic partners attending the NRF's Summit '09 to visit the Price Protectr booth, #102, to learn more, or to contact them via e-mail at b2b@priceprotectr.com.
