British author Sam Jane Brown turns all religion on its head with her debut novel "Forgotten Word," featuring the second coming of Christ as a woman, and the outright ban of religion.

Forgotten Word is the story of private investigator, Zena McGrath, who is chosen by the Vatican to look into what appears to be a link in several clergy deaths. Her pursuit of the killer turns into a bizarre confrontation of the supernatural and a long overdue conversation with her own personal beliefs. Her trail leads her to the Vatican with scenes of satanic worship within the Vatican walls by Vatican officials, which in turn leads to the Vatican slaughtering their own.
"I played with the idea of what an outright ban on religion would look like," Brown says. "I wanted to give people something to think about, and I think that conversation is timely. We look at the two largest world religions and their obvious conflict, and then how they react to the rise of secularism and it feels like a bomb waiting to go off."
While the book dives into the prophesies within the Book of Revelation it also acknowledges the dangers of the authoritarian systems building to replace religion and lets the readers ask themselves if they would be any better in the long run.
