Quoting Matilda, Her Voice, Her Works, Her Past

A part history, part biography book that contains quotes and reveals the life of an important woman in history

SYRACUSE, N.Y., March 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Women's equality issues have again gained cultural prominence and the division between classes and disparity in wealth between rich and poor are also hot topics.  Also, many may have forgotten how racism, Native American issues and many other social justice issues tormented society in the past.  Author Susan Savion reminds the world of some lessons of history by quoting suffragist Matilda Joslyn Gage in her book, Quoting Matilda.  In this compilation of wise and passionate words from Gage followed by biographical and historical commentary about her life and work, readers will find a helpful resource that offers an easy source of information that's very pertinent to many of today's issues.

Unlike other well-known historical names, many have never heard of Matilda Joslyn Gage.  Nor are they aware of her important contributions to women's equality.  This amazing woman contributed for over 40 years as part of a triumvirate with Anthony and Stanton.  She was involved in the women's suffrage movement from 1852 until her death in 1898 and became a noted speaker and writer on women's issues, even co-authoring a "Woman's Bible."  But she was "written out of history" until recently because she was consider to be too radical in all she proposed to accomplish.

She fought for the rights of Native Americans and enslaved persons and anyone else impacted by government control. She championed women inventors and was the inspiration behind her son-in-law L. Frank Baum's 14 Oz books. She had a life-long desire for justice and equality for all and was connected to the ideas of Theosophy. This moved her to take on the inequality of women in religious institutions. Readers will find her immensely quotable.

This book is available at www.amazon.com and www.barnesandnoble.com.

Quoting Matilda will be featured in the 2015 London Book Fair. (Apr 14, 2015 – Apr 16, 2015)
