Garrett Garland has been elected as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors. Garland replaces Dale Beatty, who is moving to the Purple Heart Homes Executive Staff as the Chief Development Officer.

"Garrett brings a combination of passion and first-hand experience as a soldier and disabled Veteran, in addition to his business management background. Garrett has personally invested time and money not only through serving on the Purple Heart Homes board, but he goes out of his way to get to know the Veterans we serve. He has great understanding of the needs and struggles that Service Connected Disabled Veterans face to either become first time home owners or to rehab their home to meet their current physical needs," Gallina added.
Garland joined the board of Purple Heart Homes in 2010 after having followed the growth and development since its inception in 2008. Garland served in the US Army from 1966 to 1971, serving in Vietnam and Washington. After service to his country, Garland went on to become a divisional manager for LoJack, headquartered in California until 2002. Then moving back to North Carolina to raise his family where he became the President of The Blindman Commercial, a commercial window treatment company specializing in window shades and custom blinds.
Dale Beatty has served as Chairman of the Board since co-founding Purple Heart Homes in 2008. Beatty will be joining the executive staff to help develop new chapter leadership around the country. PHH will provide a blueprint for community leaders who have a desire to help Veterans in their towns with housing needs. PHH will provide the tools and the leadership to help them accomplish this vital mission. Beatty will also be leading the development team to help increase corporate sponsorships where donations of materials and services make a large impact and provide win/win solutions for corporations looking to get involved.
Purple Heart Homes has achieved unprecedented success by consistently helping to provide qualified Veterans with housing solutions that served in all eras.

Dale Beatty and John Gallina co-founded Purple Heart Homes after members from the Statesville, NC and surrounding Community helped build a handicap accessible home for Beatty and his family.
Beatty and Gallina were both injured in Iraq on November 15, 2004 when the vehicle they were riding in hit two anti tank mines, leaving Beatty a double amputee below the knees, and Gallina with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) and back injuries.
