The Professional Development Center Offers New CPA Exam Review Course at McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — The Professional Development Center (UT PDC) at The University of Texas at Austin is proud to announce that it will begin offering a new Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam review course starting in January 2013 at the McCombs School of Business. This course will be a new convenient option for students in the school's Master in Professional Accounting (MPA) program. The course is designed to help these students gain the knowledge and information they need to successfully take and pass the CPA exam and earn this prestigious credential.

"I am delighted to work with my university colleagues at the McCombs School of Business to offer this excellent CPA exam review to their students," said Liliya Spinazzola, director of the Professional Development Center. "I am confident that the students will find this innovative and highly interactive course truly beneficial in meeting both their academic and career objectives."

While the course is currently intended only for McCombs students, additional concurrent courses will be opened to the public starting in the fall 2013 semester.

The course runs for 16 weeks and contains four distinct study areas required for the CPA exam: Financial, Audit, Regulation and Business. Students have the option of either enrolling in a Monday/Wednesday cohort class that begins January 2 or a Tuesday/Thursday cohort that begins January 3. Both cohorts meet evenings on the university campus from 6 to 10 p.m.

UT-PDC's CPA Exam Review employs the Becker Professional Education CPA review system. Based on averages of published pass rates by the American Institute of CPAs, students who study the Becker system pass the CPA exam at double the rate of non-Becker students. The system includes 100 hours of instruction from subject matter experts, interactive software linking study questions directly to applicable notations in textbooks and lectures, customized study plans and practice exams.
