Prize Wheel App Creator Sues for Infringement

Grand Prize Network's complaint filed in federal court on September 30 calls Iddiction's Prize Spin app "comprehensively and confusingly similar" to Prize Wheel, which was downloaded from Apple's AppStore and Google Play more than a million times in the two years before the introduction of Iddiction's app last May.

Its attorney, Fritz Clapp, says, "The popularity and success of the Prize Wheel app has tempted competing developers to imitate and exploit its distinctive features; Iddiction's Prize Spin is just the most blatant one."

The suit claims infringements of Grand Prize Network's trademarks and copyrights, and accuses Iddiction of unfair competition under both state and federal law.

Jerald Stuart, president of Grand Prize Network, reports that a large number of people have been deceived into downloading the wrong app.  "We have heard from numerous users who felt duped once they realized they didn't have the original Prize Wheel app." Prize Wheel TM has awarded over $100,000 in prizes since launch.

Grand Prize Network requests the court to award its lost revenue, Iddiction's earnings from the disputed app, punitive damages, and to enjoin further distribution of the Prize Spin app.
