Price Protectr Covers Amazon Shoppers

Startup that has saved users over a $1.3 million dollars announces a new service

NEW YORK, Sept. 2, 2008 — The Internet was abuzz over the weekend over a recent change in shopping policy at the Internet's biggest shopping website: Amazon.com. According to Amazon shoppers, Amazon has ended their price protection guarantee. It appears that items ordered from Amazon will no longer be eligible for price drop rebates from Amazon.

Amazon's Post-Order Price Guarantee allowed the user to get their money back on the difference of any Amazon price drop within 30 days of buying an item from Amazon. Users bought with the confidence of getting the lowest Amazon price at the time of purchase and up to 30 days later, a confidence even more important in an economy where more and more people need ways to save money.

In light of this development, another website has announced its intention to step in. A website called priceprotectr.com has decided to accelerate the launch of a new service that will enable Amazon customers to still enjoy the benefits of Amazon service and sales while retaining the peace of mind that came from price protection.

According to the Price Protectr website, "Within 60 days, Price Protectr plans to offer price protection to Price Protectr users who shop at Amazon. Details will be announced, but here's the long and short of it: If you're a Price Protectr user who buys from Amazon through one of Price Protectr's services, you'll automatically receive a refund of some or all of the difference between the Amazon purchase price and the reduced Amazon price for a period of time after your purchase."

The Price Protectr site invites users to sign up "for an account at Price Protectr, for the blog RSS feed, or for the Price Protectr fan page at Facebook" to be the first to know about the launch date.

Over the past year, Price Protectr has offered free price information services to shoppers, letting them know real-time price drops, sending deal alerts by e-mail, and providing the top "Deals of the Day" to those who sign up. If the price goes down on an item at one of Price Protectr's 130+ retailers, registered users get an e-mail. Thousands have used the free service already on over $25,000,000 in products.

After the user submits a product at PriceProtectr.com, the site sends the user an e-mail if the price goes down. Priceprotetcr.com covers more retailers than any other price information website — over 130 including Best Buy, Sears, Circuit City, Tiger Direct, The Gap, The Apple Store, and, of course, Amazon.

"We've notified actual users of more than $1,300,000 in potential savings," said a Price Protectr representative.

Operating out of New York and California, PriceProtectr LLC is the world's top destination for price drop notification, recently surpassing $25,000,000 in purchases protected. Last year, shoppers might have saved over $1.2 billion had they used its price alert services.
