Popular Shopping Website Beezid Releases Top Holiday Gift List

MONTREAL, Dec. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Penny auction leader Beezid's"Battle of the Brands" event offers consumers a guide to the most popular items of the holiday season.

Hundreds of online shoppers convened last Thursday night to participate in Beezid's "Battle of the Brands" event, part of the company's ongoing Black Friday promotions.

Beezid, which launched as a penny auction site in 2009 and expanded into traditional retail last year with the opening of the Beezid Store, is one of the largest bidding fee auction sites on the web, with the holidays consistently their busiest time of the year.

In a "Battle of the Brands" event, items from competing companies go up for auction at the same time; for example, Apple and Samsung. Members bid on the items they want, revealing in the process which item is more popular.

The concept was introduced last January and there have been several such events throughout the year, most recently Thursday's "Black Friday Brawl."

"Brand-name items always make popular gifts, but oftentimes people aren't sure which one to buy – Xbox or PS4? iPad or Fire HDX?," said Beezid CEO Max Bohbot. "With the Battle of the Brands, shoppers get clear, current answers about which items are most popular right now."

The shifting popularity of brands and products is clear when comparing results from throughout the year. Walmart, for example, while by far the most popular choice for gift cards in January's Battle of the Brands, proved less popular than both Amazon and Target in Thursday night's event. The Xbox One console, by contrast, defeated the PlayStation 4 both times.
