Playwright-Lawyer Once Again Engages Poetry Lovers in Latest Collection

Author Gary Botting brings together for the first time all his published poems in one amazing volume

COQUITLAM, British Columbia, April 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — The author of 30 books and as many plays, Gary Botting is better known as an extradition lawyer and playwright than a poet. But his poems reveal a more sensitive side of this playwright-cum-lawyer. For the first time, all of his published poems have been brought together in this wonderful volume. Streaking! The Collected Poems of Gary Botting is his tenth collection of poems; the previous nine are also included in this volume.

This poetry anthology features thought-provoking haikus, sonnets, odes and ballads, and includes his full-fledged poetic drama, "Prometheus Rebound." Most of his published poems push the boundaries of accepted poetic and linguistic structure and thematic acceptability, and in this sense are experimental. He explores themes of unabashed sexuality, as well as more innocent themes of nature. Many of the poems are intimate. However, most are innocent reflections of the joys to be experienced in the natural world and the complex interaction between human beings at every level. He evokes mythic and literary figures from Atlas to Prometheus as well as literary and artistic giants from Shakespeare and Pasternak to Ezra Pound and Pablo Picasso. Some of his poetic pieces also explore his personal philosophy of "extensionism," the notion that the only thing we can be sure of is that all things, including ideas, extend in space and time.

"His sense of humour – rare in Canadian poets – giggles across the page," says one critic.
