Platinum's donation funded the purchase of 50 filters, providing clean and drinkable water to more than 150 Honduran children

A team of 14 volunteers from the Rotary International's Wesley Chapel, Fla. chapter made an excursion to the tropical mountains of southern Honduras order to install clean water filtration systems and sanitary lavatory facilities.
The team of volunteers worked in small, isolated communities that did not have quality water for agriculture, drinking, cooking or bathing. The only water available was infested with grime and bacteria, which led to all sorts of disease outbreaks and a high infant mortality rate.
Partnered with Pure Water for the World, the group worked tirelessly from April 6-12 to install filtration systems in 50 homes. Clean useable and drinkable water became available to more than 150 Honduran children as a result of their efforts.
In addition, the team also constructed several lavatory systems across area schools to manage waste disposal and help prevent the spreading of disease. The World Health Organization estimates that 3.1 million children worldwide die each year because of water contamination.
