Philadelphia Startup AboutOne Showcases Latest Release of Online Family Organizer at Entrepreneur Expo

AboutOne will unveil recent strategic partnerships and present the beta version of its new online organizer at this week-long celebration of Philadelphia technology

PHILADELPHIA, April 26, 2012 — Philadelphia-based AboutOne (http://www.AboutOne.com) was invited to demo the beta release of its new online organizer today at Philly Startup Leaders' (PSL) fourth annual Entrepreneur Expo (http://phillystartupleaders.org/). As part of Philly Tech Week's (http://www.phillytechweek.com/) week-long celebration of technology in Philadelphia, this event showcases the latest innovations in digital lifestyle products and services. The annual week of events is intended to grow the impact of this innovative region through programming focused on technology, collaboration, and improving Philadelphia. AboutOne is attending as one of three women-founded tech companies to receive funding in this region.

Joanne Lang, AboutOne founder and CEO, will present the new version of AboutOne. This beta release enhances a customer's existing calendar and contact tools with online filing and reporting. As life events happen, AboutOne automatically organizes, stores, and shares the information needed to take care of home and family – at home or on-the-go. The solution helps customers eliminate clutter with an easy-to-use and safe alternative for storing paper-based family journals, photos, videos, and artwork, as well as health, education, and possessions details and paperwork. AboutOne links these items to family members, other contacts, and calendar events, providing powerful search functions for instant access to details about people, places, paperwork, and events.

AboutOne's Lang joined PSL when she founded her tech startup. She received invaluable support and advice from this group, leading to additional support from the Alliance of Women Entrepreneurs and funding from Philadelphia investors including Ben Franklin Technology Partners, Mid-Atlantic Angel Group, and Golden Seeds.

According to Lang, "AboutOne is a 'home grown' Philadelphia tech company and I am one of three women tech founders who have received local funding. Since there are not that many of us to showcase, I'm thrilled to be participating in Philly Tech Week because it's important to foster this region's startup environment and I would love to see more women have the kind of support and funding I've been fortunate to receive."

Like other companies at the Entrepreneur Expo, AboutOne views this event as an opportunity to connect with larger, more established Philadelphia area companies for potential partnerships. "AboutOne offers many unique sticky features that attract parents and families, which makes a partnership with us very compelling to banks, homebuilders, insurance companies, credit card companies, healthcare companies, and pharmaceutical companies that market products for parents, families, women and children," said Lang.
