Pentel of America Announces New President

Current Chief Operating Officer steps up to lead Pentel of America

TORRANCE, Calif., March 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Celebrating the 50-year anniversary of Pentel of America, the company is proud to announce that its current Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Chotaro "Joe" Koumi is taking over as president of the company, effective immediately.  Mr. Koumi will also be in charge of Pentel of America's manufacturing facility in Mexico.

Mr. Koumi has held numerous positions within the global Pentel organization and was previously in the Strategic Planning Department in Japan prior to his return to America two years ago as COO. Earlier in his career, Mr. Koumi spent 8 years at Pentel of America in the Operations Department and was responsible for significant improvements to the company's performance.

Current president, Mr. Tomokazu Takahashi, will be returning to Japan after two successful years here in the United States.  He will be assuming the role of Strategic Planning Director at Pentel's world headquarters in Tokyo, Japan.  Mr. Takahashi says, "It was a privilege to serve as president of Pentel of America these past two years. However, I leave the company in very capable hands. Mr. Koumi has a clear vision, strong leadership skills, and most of all is team-oriented, making him the perfect president for Pentel of America at its 50th Anniversary."

Mr. Koumi says, "It has been a privilege to serve as Chief Operating Officer under Mr. Takahashi. I have learned a great deal from him and will do my best to continue the positive upward momentum he began. It is an honor to be assuming this role in our most important subsidiary. I am excited to continue our growth trajectory as Pentel of America begins its next 50 years."
