PartyPoker.net Announces Two Canadian WPT® Stops at Playground Poker Club in 2013

MONTREAL, Feb. 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — It's no surprise that the record-setting success of the PartyPoker.net sponsored WPT® Montreal at Playground Poker Club in November of 2012 put a big spotlight on the Canadian poker scene, and it's also no surprise that the WPT will be returning back to Montreal.

What is surprising is that the WPT will be returning not once, but twice to Playground Poker Club in 2013. The Club will play host to the PartyPoker.net WPT Canadian Spring Championship from May 3-9 and the return of the PartyPoker.net WPT Montreal from November29th – December 5th.

The two events will be part of the main WPT tour, with POY points up for grabs and a shot at taking home life-changing prize money. The event winners will also be immortalized on the prestigious WPT Champions Cup and receive one-of-a-kind championship belts awarded by Playground Poker Club. The May event will be live streamed with a Main Event buy-in of CAD$3000+$300, while the November event will be televised with a Main Event buy-in of CAD $3500 +$350. The full schedule of side events surrounding both tour stops are still being finalized by Playground and the WPT.

A high-roller event will most likely be added to the televised Tour Event in November of 2013 that will be designed to attract the biggest names in poker from all over the globe. In 2012, the PartyPoker.net WPT Montreal attracted the largest group of assembled pros and celebrities that a Canadian event has ever seen, including Antonio Esfandiari, Phil Laak, Daniel Negreanu, Gavin Smith, Isabelle Mercier, David Williams, Jeff Gross, Phil Kessel, and Guy Carbonneau.

PartyPoker.net is the official online sponsor and will be running free rolls, qualifiers and satellites, leading up to both events. Recently, PartyPoker.net and Playground Poker Club teamed up to raise money for youth hockey in Montreal with the Hat Trick Series and will be hosting one of Canada's largest charity poker tournaments in March, which will benefit breast cancer research at McGill University.
