Chili, Chili and Chili is the official forecast for their Ventura Grand Opening Celebration
MONROVIA, Calif., Feb. 22, 2012 — Original Tommy's, located at 5663 Valentine Road in Ventura, is having their official grand opening celebration Tuesday, February 28th, 2012. This location marks the 34th for the family-owned and operated chain. It was 66 years ago that Tommy Koulax first introduced his chili-topped hamburger in Los Angeles and the love affair continues today.
Tommy's Ventura opened their doors for the first time late December. "We expected a soft opening given the time of year. It was anything but soft; we opened to an unbelievable crowd, and it has been non-stop since the opening," said Robert Castaneda, VP of Operations. "The Ventura restaurant has actually out-performed our original LA location, which is a first for us."
The people of Ventura have overwhelmingly welcomed Tommy's to their community and Tommy's is committed to reciprocating with this grand opening. Tommy's will give out over 1000 free meal vouchers in the area surrounding the restaurant and to the first guests at the event. They are distributing over 95,000 flyers around Ventura, Oxnard and Camarillo, offering a "FREE Cheeseburger with any purchase." The offer is good on the day of the grand opening and through the end of March. "We want thank to all of our guests in the area whether they attend the grand opening or not," said Castaneda.
Tommy's Promo Van will be on-site at the grand opening giving away all kinds of FREE stuff, and Tommy's Prize Wheel will be spinning from 11 am – 2 pm so guests can win food, t-shirts, hats and more.
The official ribbon cutting is scheduled for 10:30 am and immediately following is the cake cutting. Tommy's officials are serving up a serious piece of art for this cake cutting. The 5ft wide, 3ft tall cake is expected to weigh in at 200lbs. This will be a first for Tommy's. "The cake will look just like our World Famous Chiliburger, and will be 100% edible and delicious. I am very excited to see it, and taste it too," said Cindi Koulax, Tommy's daughter. Cindi wanted to bring something unique and special to the Ventura celebration to show her appreciation. The cake will be created by A Wish and A Whisk Custom Cake Studio of Costa Mesa.
