Following the United Nation's recent declaration of June 21st as "International Yoga Day," India's Prime Minister called yoga an invaluable gift, a holistic approach to health and well-being. Wai Lana couldn't agree more, saying, "Yoga is a complete way of life where every aspect of our existence comes together in harmony, surcharged with deep meaning and purpose."
To celebrate this festive day and help introduce people around the world to the many benefits of yoga, Wai Lana has produced her "Namaste" music video "to convey the message that the yoga lifestyle is a simple yet powerful foundation for improving our lives, recognizing that we are all brothers and sisters, part of one big family, and making this world a better place."
"Namaste" is a traditional greeting that is often heard in the yoga community. It is usually offered with folded hands, lowered eyes, and a bowed head. Wai Lana says she wrote the song to help us "remember one of yoga's greatest lessons—humility and respect for others."
Wai Lana's "Namaste" song was performed with beautiful, creative, and heartfelt participation by people all over the world. It was shot on location in the US, Canada, Mexico, Philippines, India, China, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Ukraine, and Poland. "Namaste" is very uplifting and, according to Wai Lana, "symbolizes the unity and harmony that we can achieve through yoga."
Wai Lana asks each of us to, "Be inspired by Yoga Day to unite together, not only as a nation, but globally, so that we can have more harmony and peace in our lives." This message is joyfully conveyed in the "Namaste" song with such lyrics as: "We are the children of the world / And it's up to us to take care of each other/ We are all a part of one big family / We are brothers and sisters don't you see / Namaste!
