Mobile Active Defense Named Cool Vendor in Enterprise Mobility, 2011 by Leading Analyst Firm

Vendors selected for the "Cool Vendor" report are innovative, impactful and intriguing

ATLANTA, April 21, 2011 — Mobile Active Defense, a leading provider of Smartphone and Tablet Device Mobile Enterprise Compliance Security solutions, today announced that it has been included in the list of "Cool Vendors" in the Cool Vendors in Enterprise Mobility, 2011 report by Gartner, Inc.

"We consider our inclusion in the Cool Vendor report by Gartner a great honor and recognition of our mission and capability to enable customers to unlock the power of secure information and to improve mobile business performance," said Rob Smith, Co-Founder and CTO of Mobile Active Defense. "We continue to innovate as we execute our product roadmap, and with the 2010 launch of the Mobile Enterprise Compliance Security (MECS) server, we introduced a very novel revolutionary product that will change the mobile security industry and how Enterprises can achieve security and compliancy in the organization."

According to Gartner Inc., the research describes four vendors that are bringing new and innovative capabilities to organizations to deal with mobile consumerization and write as part of the report. Who should care? According to the report: "Organizations dealing with mobile consumerization that aim to support corporate mobile devices without affecting the user experience nor compromising the enterprises security and compliance."

M.A.D.'s Mobile Enterprise Compliance and Security (MECS) server solution implements stringent controls that can not be defeated by the employee, and is locked down to the degree required by organizations, especially those that are under compliance regulatory mandates. MECS extends existing enterprise and network security policies across mobile platforms with complete encryption, Geo-Location and granular firewall controls, a suite of anti-virus, malware, content filtering, device management tools and recently added Application Access Control (AAC). Extending beyond the white/blacklisting of applications to actually monitor how applications behave and remediate if they should behave badly.

Winn Schwartau, Chairman of M.A.D. Partners, LLC, commented on the honor of being selected for this report by saying that: "First, this is truly cool! Secondly and most importantly, the way we protect the mobile end point has to change in light of today's adoption of the various smartphone and table devices that are infiltrating Enterprises. M.A.D. offers the only solution for mobile devices to overcome both the inherent weaknesses of MDM on Apple iOS and the Android platform and traditional sandbox security solutions on the device that do not scale for mobile platforms. Leapfrogging the outdated sandbox security approach, enabling employees to use their devices with native capabilities, and not changing the user experience = very cool."
