LOS ANGELES, June 16, 2011 — Mikawaya, the original creator of Mochi Ice Cream, has announced the winner of its viral video song contest. The winning video, entitled "Candy Land Mikawaya Mochi," was submitted by David Deisenroth and received nearly 3,100 votes and over 4,800 views. Mr. Deisenroth will receive the Grand Prize of a custom Mikawaya Mochi-branded Apple iTouch.
The video contest, in which visitors posted homemade Mochi Ice Cream videos of them singing about Mikawaya Mochi to the website, was decided by the greatest number of viewer votes. The intent of the contest was to increase fan interaction online and to further raise awareness of the product through a creative and fun avenue, both of which were highly successful.
President of Mikawaya Frances Hashimoto commented, "We are extremely delighted with all of the creative and entertaining video submissions that we received for this contest. Fans were given 12 weeks to film and post a song, and any user who submitted an approved video received a Mikawaya Mochi t-shirt. All told, there were over a dozen video submissions, nearly 40,000 views and over 7,000 votes.
