In an effort to assist New Yorkers recover from Hurricane Sandy, MetroStar Home Health, a privately-owned home medical equipment company available at , will be accepting canned goods, nonperishable items, household items, and monetary donations during the week of November 1-8.

As thousands of families in the tri-state area remain without homes, power, and transportation, MetroStar is committed to assisting all New Yorkers in their recovery and rebuilding effort.

"MetroStar is a Brooklyn-based company; our employees, families, and patients have been directly affected by this devastating natural disaster. We need to do something, so we've decided to immediately organize a relief effort to collect donations from gracious and fortunate New Yorkers less affected by the storm. These items will be distributed without delay to those in need, helping many people personally afflicted by Sandy," stated Isaac Newman, Chief Operating Officer at MetroStar.

With so many families displaced due to severe flooding and power loss, MetroStar will be hosting a seven-day relief drive. "At this point anything that you feel can assist another family can be donated," said Newman. The MetroStar team is currently stationed at their Brooklyn showroom, ready to accept donations now through November 8.

Located at 5359 Kings Highway, MetroStar stays committed to serving their community. Offering same or next day delivery on most home health products and supplies, they are devoted to educating patients on insurance coverage as well as their choice in determining whether renting or purchasing is the individual's best option. To ease the financial burden, MetroStar accepts Medicare, Medicaid, and is in network with over thirty HMOs, insurance plans, and union locals.

The company also provides a unique new Metro Pharmacy Direct Program which allows pharmacies to sell home medical equipment expressly through their store. Before this service, it was not feasible for pharmacies to sell DME equipment because they required after-sale support, a large space to hold oversized items like wheelchairs, and trained technicians on staff. With this program, however, MetroStar takes care of everything except the sale. This Pharmacy Direct Program is just one of many ways the home health products company has given back to the community, and now they invite the NY public to do the same during this week's hurricane relief drive.

All items collected will be distributed to families who have fallen victim to the hurricane in New York City. For more information about MetroStar home medical equipment or this hurricane relief program, please contact Isaac Newman, Chief Operating Officer, directly via email at Email.
