Former Secretary of State, General Colin Powell, USA (Ret.) set the tone for the summit with an inspiring keynote address on the theme "Thrive on Risk" in which he drew from his experience to underscore the role of leadership in successfully balancing risk and opportunity.

Dr. Frank Jurgen Richter, Chairman of Horasis: The Global Visions Community, moderated a CEO panel titled "A Conversation about Thriving in a Mobile, Social, and Global World" which featured General Colin Powell, USA (Ret.), Thomas Quinlan, CEO of RR Donnelley & Sons, and Shellye Archambeau, CEO of MetricStream. The four leaders discussed the business landscape today, the importance of a global vision and strategy, and how corporate culture and leadership drives business performance and success.

Gunjan Sinha, Executive Chairman of MetricStream shared the company's exciting vision for the future – Pervasive GRC – during his keynote address. Mr. Sinha explained how the explosion of data, apps, regulations, risks, IT operations, employees, partners, and suppliers has led to the need for a cohesive and integrated GRC ecosystem within every organization — one that breaks down organizational silos and hierarchies, unifies enterprise processes and entities, and extracts meaningful risk intelligence from enterprise data. Organizations who are proactively building out a unified and pervasive GRC ecosystem are on the path to competitive advantage, industry leadership, and success.

Mr. Sinha also announced the completion of a strategic financing round led by Goldman Sachs, which will enable MetricStream to accelerate its innovation and market leadership. The company's commitment to innovation was further underscored at the summit with the announcement and launch of its latest technological innovation – Zaplet – a breakthrough open cloud platform and partner ecosystem that harnesses the power of Platform-as-a-Service to help developers and organizations quickly, deploy, manage, and sell specialized GRC apps.

The summit also featured analyst sessions led by French Caldwell, Vice President and Gartner Fellow at Gartner Research, Christopher McClean, Principal Analyst and Research Director at Forrester Research, and Michael Rasmussen, Chief GRC Pundit at GRC 20/20 Research. The three analysts provided exclusive insights into the GRC market, and highlighted where the industry is headed.

Other event highlights include:

  • Industry panels that brought together business experts to discuss operational risk, compliance and controls, ethics, sustainability, risk intelligence, regulatory reporting, internal audit, and IT GRC.
  • MetricStream customer case study presentations which provided best practices and lessons learned, which attendees can apply to their own GRC programs.
  • A Partner Ecosystem presentation that highlighted how MetricStream and its business partners and consultants work together to deliver real value to their shared clients.
  • Presentations and showcases of MetricStream's latest product innovations and roadmap for the future.

Commenting on the event, Gunjan Sinha, Executive Chairman of MetricStream said, "The MetricStream GRC Summit 2013 was a fantastic forum for GRC and quality management professionals, thought leaders, consultants, and analysts from around the world to meet and share valuable ideas and best practices on how to build more risk-intelligent, compliant, ethical, and better-governed organizations."

We are pleased to announce that MetricStream will continue to host user group meetings and industry roundtables throughout 2013 and 2014 — these events will culminate at The MetricStream GRC Summit 2014, to be held from April 29 – 30, 2014 in Las Vegas."
