Marine West 2010 Set for January 27 – 28 at Camp Pendleton, CA

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 4, 2010 — The 2010 edition of Marine West, one of the most comprehensive military expositions of the coming year, will be held at Camp Pendleton, CA, during January 27 – 28. Companies from around the world will showcase weapons, equipment and systems designed to enhance the fighting capabilities of America's "911 Force," the United States Marines, and will also welcome other U.S. and allied forces.

As in past years, the expo will provide Marines and other military and civilian defense personnel with opportunities to interface with manufacturers showcasing the best military hardware produced anywhere in the world. Besides seeing many equipment demonstrations, videos and static displays, the men and women attending the event will be able to discuss with company representatives what their specific requirements are and offer suggestions for future generations of weapons and equipment. Over the past several years, Marine West has added a unique dimension to the relationship between the defense industry and warfighters just back from Southwest Asia and other trouble spots, as well as personnel preparing to deploy to those regions.

New this year, the exposition site will be adjacent to the Combat Camera Warehouse Building (Building 2238) in Camp Pendleton's 22 Area.

In addition to individual items of equipment and weapons, logistics support systems, communications equipment, and special operations systems, other displays will highlight a broad spectrum of other Marine Corps modernization assets. Also featured will be systems used against IEDs and being employed in a growing number of other military roles, including chemical and biological agent detection, facility and perimeter surveillance, and reconnaissance, among others.

Co-sponsors of Marine West 2010 are Camp Pendleton, the Marine Corps League and Marine Corps Systems Command. Camp Pendleton, in Southern CA, is one of the Marine Corps' largest and most important training bases. The Marine Corps League is a Congressionally chartered Marine veterans organization long noted for its support of the Corps. The Marine Corps Systems Command has overall responsibility for assuring that Marines have cutting-edge equipment and technology specifically designed for, or adapted to, the Corps' wide spectrum of intense performance demands in the rapidly changing face of modern combat operations.

All expo attendees will be required to have photo identification available when entering the base at Camp Pendleton, and vehicles may be subjected to inspection. Registration will be on-site; however, Marines in uniform will not be required to register. There is no fee to attend the event.

On January 27, the first day of Marine West, a Commanders' Preview will be held from 8:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. All other attendees are invited to attend the opening ceremony from 9:45 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. and the exposition area from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

On January 28, the exposition will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
