The Tripleblaze website states that they list best places to camp in Oregon by using their "unique campsite popularity algorithm that accounts for the average rating and number of reviews for a campground and the number of people who have camped or wish they could camp at that campground."

The Loon Lake Lodge's Facebook post about the Number One Campground Rating brought many comments, among them: "One of my favorite places to camp and go boating. I love it when a band is arranged and they set up on the dock, I sit in my boat and enjoy the show."

The Resort, with proximity to the Oregon Coast is pet friendly and has cabins, yurts, motel rooms and a vacation house in addition to RV and Tent sites on one mile of lake frontage with a shoreline that boasts tall douglas fir and cedar trees covering the steep hillsides surrounding the lake. Because of the wind-protected waters at Loon Lake, many Oregon vacationers prefer the lake location over camping on Oregon Coast Beaches.

Living up to its slogan, "Make Your Own Family Fun", the resort at Loon Lake, Oregon is known for its recreation opportunities and the on-site Loon Lake Watersports and Marina,LLC rents ski boats, Jet Skis, paddleboards, kayaks and canoes, plus pontoon boats and a houseboat and offers boat docking to guests. Marina services are open to the non-guests for a small fee.

During the summer months, the staff plans theme weekends with activities for the whole family. The sandy beach has a swimming area adjacent to the sand volleyball court and snack bar.

The tent sites vary from individual sites to group sites that accommodate between 16 and 30 people and are located in the forest or along the lakeshore. The RV sites range from basic sites to pull thru for big rigs, with full hook-ups and convenient to the showers and laundry. And Loon Lake Resort's cottages and cabins have satellite TV, free wi-fi, sleep between 2 to 8 people and some have full kitchens.

The convenience store carries sundries, groceries, souvenirs and beverages plus the deli, with seating on the deck overlooking the lake, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

For adventures in the nearby area, guests drive the 20-minute route along the Umpqua River, past the Elk Viewing Area to the city of Reedsport where many enjoy the Natural and Cultural Exhibits at the Umpqua Discovery Center. Reedsport is also famous for its three-day Chainsaw Sculpting Festival in June, and DuneFest in July of each year.

Just 20 minutes north of Reedsport, the City of Florence offers several festivals throughout the year as well as fine dining and shopping in the Historic Old Town and Antique District.
