Libman Tax Strategies Sponsors, Inspires Future Business Professionals With $5,500 Seed Money as Part of Clairbourn Middle School's Unique Entrepreneurship Elective

ARCADIA, Calif., April 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — True to his company's promise to donate 10% of annual gross income to charitable purposes, Adam C. Libman, CRTP, recently gifted $5,500 to 11 students at Clairbourn School. The middle schoolers had participated in a special elective course on entrepreneurship sponsored by his firm, Libman Tax Strategies (http://www.adamlibman.com).

"Good work is permanent in a world of temporary things," explained Libman. "The goal with the entrepreneurship class, along with the company's other community-minded ventures, is not to teach young people how to get rich. Instead, the goal is to develop a problem-solving mindset, inspire confidence and self-esteem, and nurture an interest in making the world a better place, even in a small way."

After being rejected by another institution, Libman received a more enthusiastic response from Clairbourn School. Headmaster Dr. Robert Nafie, along with Middle School Director Amy Patzlaff and teacher Chris Guyer, agreed that an elective course for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders would be the ideal way to put Libman's intriguing concepts into action.

Guyer instructed the students in all aspects of detailed business planning, from market research to attracting clients to management issues. Libman participated in three class sessions, providing valuable first-person insight into the hard work of envisioning a sustainable business and steering it toward success.

Of the 11 business plans chosen to receive $500 each in seed money, four stood out as being particularly innovative or having the greatest potential for success. One student suggested selling homemade protein bars, for which she already had a knack, at athletic events. A student with severe allergies created a plan to market a line of gluten-free cookies. Another imagined event tents with built-on solar panels, lessening the need for noisy portable generators, while a fourth student suggested a home delivery service for Chinese daily newspapers.

As a former student body president at Clairbourn, this project had special significance for the founder of Libman Tax Strategies. Libman matriculated through his own School of Hard Knocks, which inspired him to make charitable giving within his local community a core value of his accounting firm. In 2008, a failed business venture set off a chain of events that left him deeply in debt and casting about for lifelines. He decided then that once back on his feet, he wouldn't waste another opportunity. Several years later, Libman purchased his father's accounting practice and implemented his charitable giving initiative.

Guyer and Libman are already in discussions over how to recreate the elective next year. Those in the community interested in contributing to the success of this worthwhile project are encouraged to call Libman Tax Strategies at (626) 280-6865.
