In the past, RD Legal has helped communities impacted by terrorism, specifically the 9/11 First Responders and families from the 1983 Beirut Barrack Bombings. The fund provides the possibility for families who have suffered from terrorist attacks to claim compensation. "We are familiar with how this process works because of our previous experience with terrorist related judgments," says Roni Dersovitz, Founder of RD Legal. "The advances we would provide to eligible claimants will help them access some portion of their compensation some have been waiting decades for."

Kenneth R. Feinberg, Special Master of the Victims of State Sponsored Terrorism Fund, has released official rules and procedures for claimants to receive compensation. The Treasury Department is set to appropriate over $1 billion to the fund in 2017; it is expected to stay active until January 2026. Individuals who have final judgments against countries like Cuba, Iran, Sudan, North Korea, Iraq, Syria, Libya, and South Yemen are going to be eligible to receive compensation from the fund. According to the bill, the countries must have been designated by the United States Department of State as state sponsors of terrorism.

RD Legal is able to offer advances to eligible claimants and plaintiffs' attorneys who have awards and fees tied to the Victims of State Sponsored Terrorism Fund. Through their Terrorist Judgment Funding Program, they are offering an expedited opportunity to recipients to claim what they are owed.

"Through our Terrorist Judgment Funding Program, we are going to help claimants avoid government bureaucracy and red tape and get what they need from their delayed compensation," says Dersovitz.
