Leading British Retail Chain Wilkinson to Present Loss-Prevention Case Study Results at RFID Journal LIVE! Europe

RFID Journal's ninth annual European event to be held on Oct. 15 in London

NEW YORK, July 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — RFID Journal announced today that British housewares and household goods retailer Wilkinson will present a case study at RFID Journal LIVE! Europe 2013 (www.rfidjournalevents.com/europe) detailing how the company uses radio frequency identification technology for inventory control and loss prevention. LIVE! Europe—the most important conference and exhibition focused on the use of RFID in Europe, as well as the technology's many business benefits—will be held on Oct. 15 at Dexter House, in London, England.

The one-day conference will kick off with a presentation from Karl Jordan, Wilkinson's senior loss-prevention investigator. The retailer, which operates more than 300 stores, is employing an RFID-enabled solution to improve inventory control and loss prevention. Although the stores were equipped with security tagging and closed-circuit television (CCTV), they were still losing stock and were unable to prove how the product was being stolen, apart from empty packets left around the store.

Attendees will learn how the RFID solution alerts Wilkinson to loss, when it occurs, and provides real-time visibility into what is passing through the tills before it can be moved through the exit point. Furthermore, Jordan will explain how the system enables the retailer to identify who is stealing goods, what is being taken and through which doorway. The presenter will share how the firm is using the collected data to prevent the return of products stolen from the stores without payment, and to compile a database on a store-by-store basis.

"Wilkinson is a forward-thinking retailer that is taking advantage of RFID technology to improve its operations," said Mark Roberti, RFID Journal's founder and editor. "Attendees will learn from this case study, as well as from others being presented at this event for the first time."

Co-located with RFID in Europe, LIVE! Europe is designed to help companies considering using radio frequency identification to address real business challenges, determine the correct RFID technology to meet their needs, learn best practices from early adopters, find the right technology partners and move forward with their deployment. Furthermore, the conference will connect attendees with leading end users, industry experts and solution providers offering the latest RFID systems.
