Josh Cellars Teams with Operation Homefront to Provide Assistance to New York-based Military Families

Ft. Drum area military families get helping hand this holiday season

NEW YORK, Nov. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Operation Homefront, a not-for-profit which provides emergency assistance to military personnel and their families in times of hardship, is stepping up efforts to help New York-based military service families.

According to Alison LaFerlita, Executive Director of Operation Homefront's Tristate Chapter, "Helping military service families with financial assistance for essentials like shelter, food and supplies has been the mission of Operation Homefront since its inception in 2002. The holidays are an especially trying time for military families, and we thank Josh Cellars for helping us meet more of their needs."

Operation Homefront is working with California wine brand Josh Cellars, who announced it will be donating one dollar from each bottle of wine sold in November and December, up to $50,000 for military families.

"Operation Homefront has helped more than 590,000 families, many who need basic necessities such as food, infant supplies or with paying rent or utilities, comforts many of us take for granted," said vintner Joseph Carr, owner of Josh Cellars. "$100 can help provide infant supplies from formula to diapers. $160 can provide for food. $300 can help a family pay its utilities. These donations make a real difference to a family in need."

Carr, whose father, nicknamed Josh, served in the military, said he has been working with Operation Homefront for months to plan this fundraising effort. "The timing is even more critical now. We want military families whose members are doing so much to ensure our safety, to feel secure and cared for this holiday.  An organization like Operation Homefront is a gift that truly gives back," Carr said.
