Ivy Tech President Recognized by National Certification Organization

INDIANAPOLIS, June 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — The Manufacturing Skill Standards Council initiated a new award—MSSC Authorized Center (MAC)—to schools around the country that are leaders in assessing individuals for MSSC industry-recognized nationally portable certifications. MSSC Chair and CEO, Leo Reddy gave the first of these awards on June 17 to Thomas J. Snyder, President of Ivy Tech Community College, the Statewide Community College System in Indiana.

The occasion for this award was a well-attended Executing Briefing hosted by Ivy Tech under the "Industry Certifications: Closing the Manufacturing Skills Gap in the Great Lake Regions" title.

"The workforce of the current and near-future will require middle-skill training and a career pathway, which is the outcome of the MSSC industry-recognized nationally portable certifications," said Snyder.  "With these valuable certifications we are providing our students with the credentialing to get high-paying, in-demand careers.  We are proud of Ivy Tech's achievement.  This recognition tells the world that our students and our state are ready to help companies grow and expand."

Ivy Tech is the national leader in assessing individuals for two MSSC industry credentials: Certified Production Technician (CPT) and Certified Logistics Technician (CLT). To date, Ivy Tech has issued some 18,000 assessments, enabling 15,000 Ivy Tech students to secure these valuable certifications.
