Inc's 5000 List of Fastest Growing Companies Honors Pennsylvania's Secure Components

2013 achievements include AS6081 Counterfeit Avoidance certification, upgraded Business & Quality Management System, platinum credit rating from Dunn and Bradstreet

NORRISTOWN, Pa., Oct. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Secure Components ranks in the top half of Inc. Magazine's  2013 List of the 5000 fastest-growing private companies in the nation. Achieving this honor puts Secure Components in impressive company—past Inc. Magazine 5000 honorees include Under Armour, Patagonia, Microsoft, and Oracle. Secure Components has also ranked in the top 100 fastest-growing companies in the state of Pennsylvania.

For Secure Components, 2013 has been a year full of success and explosive growth. We have successfully undergone two AS9120 audits with separate registrars, more than doubled our office space in our Norristown, Pennsylvania, facility, earned a platinum credit rating with Dunn and Bradstreet, and unveiled a new company website, which includes a mobile version. We have completely upgraded our Business & Quality Management System, strengthening all areas of operations, including our ability to mitigate risk for our clients from counterfeit components.

AS6081 Counterfeit Avoidance Standard: First in the World to Certify

Most notably we became the first organization in the world to become certified to SAE International's new AS6081 counterfeit avoidance standard for distributors through the IECQ Counterfeit Avoidance Program. Our assessment was performed by certification body Det Norske Veritas (DNV) out of Houston, Texas. This a significant achievement, as the AS6081 standard was recently adopted by the US Department of Defense, demonstrating even greater significance to the value this standard brings to securing our nations supply chain. To be clear, the Defense Standardization Program Office provided the following comments as to what the adoption means: Adoption is analogous to the 'Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval.' It means that a non-government standard has been vetted through some standards offices in DoD and they have found the standard to be suitable to meet general DoD requirements.

QTSL-Qualified DLA Supplier

As a result of our continual efforts to improve our quality and counterfeit avoidance plan, Secure Components has successfully undergone an onsite assessment by the Defense Logistics Agency. Secure Components is now one of only 11 firms to be placed on their Qualified Testing Suppliers List (QTSL). This achievement qualifies Secure Components to provide DNA-marked 5962 microcircuits that do not have traceability from the OEM, but have instead undergone a strictly defined testing process to ensure they are authentic and fully functional.

Secure Components: SigNature DNA Provenance Marker

To further enhance our quality process, in August, Secure Components engaged with Applied DNA Sciences and has had a unique SigNature DNA Provenance mark created. Moving forward, via the Premier Semiconductor–certified third-party DNA marker, we will have our parts marked, and they will have either full OCM traceability documentation or successful AS6081 inspection and test results. This relationship has positioned us to provide even greater value to both the Defense Logistics Agency and clients who have a true desire to obtain fully functioning electronic components procured from "other than authorized sources." We are very excited about our partnership with Applied DNA Sciences. The combination of our AS6081 certification and SigNature DNA marking offer valuable tools to our clients who require components that can no longer be procured from their original authorized source.

Prepared to Fight the Global Counterfeit Epidemic

Our country's supply chain faces a global counterfeit epidemic as the need for action continues to grow.  Legislation is currently being reviewed throughout our government that will impact the way both private and government agencies procure parts. Secure Components' business plan is focused on complying with governmental requirements and growing our business through strategic action that provides our clients with a reliable and trusted source for procuring obsolete items. We will continue to provide updates via press releases, social media, and blog posts of future enhancements that benefit our clients and improve our company.
