IDEA Health & Fitness Association to Honor Longtime Broadcast Journalist and Professional Fitness Trainer, Jenna Wolfe, With the Prestigious IDEA Jack LaLanne Award at the 2015 IDEA World Fitness Convention™

SAN DIEGO, April 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Jenna Wolfe, longtime broadcast journalist, sportscaster and NBC's TODAY show correspondent and fitness expert, will receive the distinguished IDEA Jack LaLanne Award at the upcoming IDEA World Fitness Convention, the largest global fitness event in the world, scheduled for July 15-19, 2015, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

This prestigious award will be given to Wolfe at the conference's Opening Ceremonies on July 16, 2015. The IDEA Jack LaLanne Award is given to an individual who has made a significant and lasting contribution in the areas of fitness, nutrition and wellness by promoting the benefits of exercise and healthy eating, and who has inspired the world to fitness through his or her work in the media or public eye.

Jenna Wolfe serves as the TODAY show's lifestyle and fitness correspondent and as an NBC News national correspondent. Jenna spent 12 years as a sportscaster before joining the TODAY show in 2007.  Her spirited personality and passion for health and fitness are legendary, and she still trains clients in the gym when she is not motivating the world with her media reports on nutrition, exercise and wellness.

"How incredibly rewarding to be recognized for doing what you absolutely love to do," said Wolfe. "Health and fitness is woven into my soul, so to be thanked for my work by a group as pioneering in this field as the IDEA Health & Fitness Association with an award named for the godfather of fitness, Jack LaLanne, is an absolute honor."

Kathie Davis, executive director of IDEA Health & Fitness Association, a longtime admirer of Wolfe, thinks she exemplifies the spirit behind the IDEA LaLanne Award. "Jenna is an inspiration on so many levels," said Davis. "She has turned her passion for health and fitness into a successful career in broadcast journalism that inspires others to take action in their lives to be healthy."

The IDEA Jack LaLanne Award was created in 2011 and was given posthumously to Jack LaLanne in its inaugural year.  Previous recipients include actress Jane Fonda; Alberto "Beto" Perez, the creator of Zumba®; and long-distance swimming champion, Diana Nyad.
