Humanity's Fate Relies on Essence of Daedalus Rimes in New Book

Intrigue, Suspense and Compelling Human and Alien Characters Combine in Riveting New Sci-fi Novel

NIPOMO, Calif., Oct. 6, 2009 — Late one Friday afternoon, an extraterrestrial craft lands in Washington, DC, amidst the crowds of tourists visiting the White House, and in that moment there is no doubt that we share the universe with others. The arrival of these alien life forms will catapult Earth into the midst of an intergalactic war where they stand the chance of annihilation or worse in the thrilling pages of H.W. Lewis' first book in a trilogy of sci-fi novels, "The Essence of Daedalus Rimes: The Journey Begins" (published by AuthorHouse).

Daedalus (Dade) Rimes disappeared without a trace one morning, leaving his distraught wife, Julie, to question where on Earth he was. Ironically, her prayers would be answered by the Korlah aliens' arrival in Washington, DC, and when they visit her to give her information about her husband's disappearance.

Dade had never given much credence to extraterrestrial life when he encountered a phenomenon that paralyzed and rendered him unconscious. When he awoke, he discovered that he, along with 11 other humans, had been abducted by the Kahshinki, aliens with a taste for human flesh. Spurred by desperation and fear, Dade stages a courageous escape, and with the help of fellow prisoners, battles the Kahshinki for control of their spacecraft. But the prisoners' success does not last for long. Before they are destroyed by the Kahshinki warrior crafts, they are rescued by the enemies of the Kahshinki, the Korlah, who see these valiant humans as the possible key to their victory in a long-fought war with their enemies.

In his recapture by the Korlah, Dade sustains injuries that threaten his life. Not wanting to lose this valuable resource, the Korlah devise an experiment to create a means of communication between themselves and their human captive. As he dies, Dade's memories are transferred to an alien conscript named Teela.

As the probability of victory in the Korlah pursuit of revenge falters, all hope rests on an unlikely alliance with the leaders of Earth. Using Dade's knowledge and memories, Teela must rise above her humble origin to stop a mutiny and arrange for communications with the hostile planet. However, she soon discovers she has received more than just his memories, and the success of the mission, and her continued survival, will depend on her ability to moderate "The Essence of Daedalus Rimes." Discover the fate of humanity and the Korlah in this intriguing, fast-paced space odyssey.
